AOK Scholars

The Lawrence E. White Family Foundation (LWFF) was founded in 2002 and has been gradually expanding its area of interest. In 2013, LWFF initiated a program to help disadvantaged college bound young adults who, if helped, were most likely to succeed. In Central Florida, LWFF has partnered with Embrace Families to develop and fund AOK Scholars, which financially assists deserving students from the foster care system.

AOK Scholarships are awarded to young adults who display academic promise and motivation to complete a post-secondary program (two or four-year college or a vocational training program leading to a credential), but require assistance to mitigate barriers related to basic necessities, academics and personal development. With the combined support of case management, transition meetings and financial assistance generously offered by the Lawrence E. White Family Foundation, AOK Scholars have proven to be more successful in completing their academic goals. In the same way that a loving parent comes to the aid of their growing children, support provided by the scholarship program allows the youth to focus on educational attainment with a safety net available to help them through the rough spots.
