Meet Owen Wentworth: A True Inspiration

October 12, 2017 – While Community Based Care of Central Florida’s Family of Companies has evolved and grown substantially since it’s inception in 2004, one constant champion who has never wavered in his commitment to the important mission of this organization is Owen Wentworth, our 2017 recipient of CBC’s prestigious “Inspiration Award”.

As the original community board chair for Community Based Care of Seminole County, Owen has played an integral role in the evolution of this organization as it expanded to serve three counties and accepted management responsibility for a host of community programs and initiatives. His active involvement continues to this day; Owen currently serves as Chairman of the CBC Holdings Board of Directors, as well as serving on Community Initiatives board and as the founding board chair of the new CBC Foundation.

“Owen has truly been a champion for our children over the years,” said CEO Glen Casel. “His business savvy and passion have been critical to ensuring that we grew responsibly while continuing to successfully serve children and create positive change in the foster care system. We would have never enjoyed the growth and accomplishments we have without the tireless support, guidance and commitment of Owen Wentworth.”

Formerly an executive with AT&T, Owen considers himself “sometimes retired” after 37 years in the telecommunications industry. These days, his responsibilities include giving back to the community and serving on numerous committees and organizations that focus on education, workforce and economic development. Owen is also part of advisory boards that include several school districts, community colleges, the University of Florida, UCF and USF.

Owen Wentworth, who has meant so much to our organization and the children we serve, will be recognized with our highest honor, the Inspiration Award, during the Dance Dream & Inspire event on November 11 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
