Bio

Christy Fisher, chief legal officer (interim) for Embrace Families, has been an attorney in child welfare for the last 16 years, advocating for children and families in Florida.

Prior to joining Embrace Families, Christy was managing attorney for Circuit 9 and Circuit 18 (Seminole county) for Children’s Legal Services at the Florida Department of Children and Families. Christy was responsible for oversight of all dependency cases within the tri-county area and managed three legal offices.

Throughout Christy’s career, she held positions as an assistant state attorney in Miami-Dade County and assistant attorney general in Broward County. She also taught public policy for several years at Johnson University and trained in numerous areas of child welfare. More recently, Christy has served as a consultant and trainer for the Strong Foundations Project, which focuses on improving reunification practices for families. In her position, she has trained the judiciary, attorneys and system of care partners within Florida.

Christy graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in 1999 with a Major in Government and concentration in International Peace Studies. She also received her Juris Doctorate from Notre Dame in 2003.
