Nasseam McPherson James has a long history of public service in Florida. Prior to joining Embrace Families Community Based Care, Nasseam served the post of Executive Director at Cornerstone Collaborative, a nonprofit focused on addressing social determinants of health to improve economic equity. Prior to that adventure Nasseam spent nearly 10 years with the Florida Department of Health and served in various leadership roles including Deputy Health Officer and Assistant Director for Orange County, Regional Program Administrator for Children’s Medical Services Central Region, and Healthy Start Director in both Seminole County and Highlands County.

Nasseam is a proud community advocate, having served on multiple boards over the years focused on children’s health and well-being, community service, and leadership development. She is extremely engaged in her civic duty as the Executive Board Secretary and the Quality Committee Chair for Central Florida Health Care Inc., a local Federally Qualified Health Center. This also affords her the opportunity to serve on the CFHC We Care Board. When not at work, Nasseam maintains a practice in counseling and therapy, and is also a full spectrum doula, committed to supporting families and individuals on the child-bearing and reproductive continuum.

Nasseam earned her Bachelors in Social Work at USF, and later received an Masters in Social Work with a concentration in Social Policy and Administration from FSU, as well as a Masters in Business Administration from UCF. And, most proudly, she and her husband are parents to a young son.
