Constant scarcity: Florida’s kids need foster homes
Oct. 3, 2023
On any given day, Embrace Families cares for about 2,300 children and teens who are formally in the child welfare system. From newborn babies to teenagers awaiting high school graduation, they arrive in care at all ages and from all family situations, through no fault of their own. But they have one thing in common: all of them need, and deserve, a loving home. Embrace Families’ job is to make sure they get one. In a recent op-ed in the Orlando Sentinel, Nikki Riggsbee, our executive director of West Orange County, explains how Embrace Families works to fulfill that mission — for all kids.
