Florida's dads must remain active in their children's lives

Aug. 8, 2003

Today, more than 18 million kids in America are growing up without a dad who’s actively engaged in their lives. But as a father himself, Damien Keen understands the crucial role fathers play. Keen is the new Fatherhood Engagement Specialist with Strong Foundations at Embrace Families, and one of his goals is to help dads be more involved. For many years, fathers were seen as “optional,” having little impact on their child’s development. But like moms, they are critical to their children’s success. Keen is committed to providing the resources and support dads need to fulfill their role, building stronger families in the process. Read more about Keen and his mission in a recent commentary that was featured on the Opinion page of the Orlando Sentinel.
