Young adults ‘Jump on the Bus’ to celebrate special Christmas Day

Dec. 28, 2023

“I got to spend Christmas with someone that I know, and that’s all that matters.” That’s what 21-year-old David Butler said about his Christmas Day. He spent it traveling by bus to various entertainment venues with about 140 other young adults without family, some living with foster caregivers and in residential homes. It was the 10th anniversary of Jump on the Bus, made possible by Penny Jones, a foster mom who first launched the annual outing so kids in foster care would be able to enjoy the holiday, and funding through donations to the Embrace Families Foundation. An Orlando Sentinel article shares what the day meant to the teens and young adults who participated.
