In Celebration of National Professional Social Work Month

Happy National Professional Social Work Month!

National Professional Social Work Month gives us an opportunity to say thank you to the amazing professionals who dedicate their careers to serving children, families, and our communities. This month, we are happy to recognize a few of those outstanding individuals.

Social Worker Highlight: Amy Moncion

Amy has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Qualified Supervisor for the Utilization Management Team at Embrace Families for the past three years. After receiving her BSW and MSW from UCF, Amy began her practice as a Child Welfare Social Worker, growing in responsibility for 14 years in a variety of roles in the dependency system. Amy has dedicated her career to serving the most vulnerable populations and is a champion for children and families in Central Florida. She is a strong advocate for children in the Child Welfare System to receive the most appropriate services that will promote their healing. Thank you, Amy, for all that you do!

Social Worker Highlight: Evette Olszyk

Evette is a Case Management Supervisor with Children’s Home Society. For the past nine years, she has demonstrated her progressive Child Welfare experience as a Case Manager, Sr. Case Manager, and Case Manager Supervisor. Around CHS, she is well known for her support and guidance to Case Managers. Evette is caring, compassionate, respectful and always committed to providing the services our families need for a safe, stable, and loving home. Along with all of us, CHS is grateful for Evette’s passion and hard work and to have her as part of the team!

Social Worker Highlight: Renarda Miller

Renarda began her career with One Hope United after graduating from Bethune-Cookman University in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. She has since been able to assist victims of human trafficking, domestic violence, medical neglect and abuse. Her team would describe her as a helper who pushes others to their full potential and offers words of encouragement. Thank you, Renarda!

Social Worker Highlight: Nataly Perez

Nataly is a veteran staff member with Gulf Coast Jewish Family & Community Services who has recently transitioned into Caregiver Support and has hit the ground running. One of the caregiver homes assigned to Nataly has already reached out to compliment her! Nataly has done an exceptional job with a challenging, high-profile case, and is not only supporting the child, but has a great rapport with the caregiver. She is always willing to assist others and is an excellent team player. Thank you, Nataly!

Social Worker Highlight: Felicia Powell

Felicia’s career in child welfare began as an intern in the Licensing Department at Children’s Home Network. She quickly advanced to Certified Licensing Specialist and then to Foster Parent Trainer. Currently she serves as a Level II Supervisor for Caregiver Support, stepping into a position in which she has been required to not only supervise newly hired employees, but also to assist in ensuring a smooth transition under the new system redesign model. Felicia’s co-workers admire her natural ability to anticipate needs and create a sense of calm with those she works with. She contributes a high level of respect and commitment to caregivers and colleagues alike, always seeing a solution and then helping to make it happen. Great job, Felicia!

Social Worker Highlight: Edwin Presswood

Edwin has only been with Gulf Coast Jewish Family & Community Services for a few months, but is always jumping in to assist anyone and everyone with home visits, volunteering to cover on-call, court and daily transportation. Edwin has been a true asset to the GCJFCS agency as a team player and always has a smile on his face. We are so happy to have you on the team, Edwin!
